If you can think back to this blog post, I asked which books should be turned into games – well, according too dingogames, the answer to that question is The Three Musketeers!  The game follows in the footsteps of the books as you, ‘Take on the role of d’Artagnan in his quest to become a Musketeer’.

You can have a look at the trailer below:

As you can see, it is a top down game with rather basic graphics, hopefully the gameplay will match up with the old-skool style.  If you want a further look at it then you can find it here and you can download a free demo to see if you like it.

Just wanna say? Glad I stumbled upon your Blog. I just played the demo (impressive length for a demo btw!) and I love this little indie game. I just did a paypal transaction, so now I just need to wait for it to clear and I’ll be definitely playing this game until the end.

The graphics are plain yes, but the animations are very well done, and I love the artistic styling. The comics maybe could have been done a bit more sharper, but other than that? definitely loving this game.

Combat is pretty well thought out system (guns are kinda useless unless you have the three musketeers with you and they’re doing the bulk of the fighting) but at early stages even spending a chunk of franks on tailor and sword you don’t get a big benefit and tend to spend lots of money on ointments.

There’s some dialog in this game like any classic 2D rpg (maybe less in this game) but it’s not a burden like good ol’ Neverwinter Nights (which can put me to sleep trying to read storyline, haha). I kinda wish there was more use of old fashioned insults (ie, biting of the thumb and maybe a leather glove across the face) but still, just minor details in the end.

So yeah, once again? thanks for the posting of this. Definitely a refreshing RPG I’ve been looking for. :)
